Mention of the Metroid Prime Trilogy HD collection has been pretty quiet over the last year or more even from insiders, but now it sounds like Nintendo might be taking another route. Metroid Prime HD Only Instead Of The Trilogy? The thought by many though was that Nintendo was just holding off on the collection to release it closer to the launch of the delayed Metroid Prime 4, which we still have no idea truly how far away it is. While this was expected a few years ago, there has never been any sort of official confirmation of the collection coming to Nintendo. With the use of the Joy-Cons on Nintendo Switch, it made total sense for the game to get an HD port to the latest Nintendo platform that could include both motion controls and reworked controls for use with something like the Pro Controller. However, this became much more readily available to get when it was added to the Wii U eShop for purchase digitally like many other Wii titles. When the combined trilogy was originally released, it became a collector's item pretty quickly due to its rarity. They didn't just stop there though, as they redid the first two games to have the same Wii Remote controls as the third game, really making this the definitive way to play the series up to this point. This was followed by two sequels, one for GameCube and one for Nintendo Wii as well in the subsequent years.Įventually, Nintendo released what was known as Metroid Prime Trilogy for Wii, which included all three games in the package. The Metroid Prime series debuted on Nintendo GameCube back in 2002 and changed the game for the Metroid franchise by moving to a first person perspective.
